Hello You! Do you use productivity apps to get stuff done quicker? It occurred to me this week that I did not cover any of the cool productivity apps for those of us always on the go. Check out the productivity tools here.
If you are like me and you only have a few hours in a day to work on your side hustle or on your business then you will appreciate anything that saves you time.
Nearly every single software I use I try to ensure that it is available on a mobile device as well. If you spend time travelling or eating you will appreciate filling those ’empty’ time slots.
This is especially true if you only have access to your laptop or desktop 2-3 hours a day and the rest of the time you can only access your mobile device.
I have a list of 9 solutions that I class as productivity apps because they help me get stuff done without the need for a laptop.
One of the hardest things to do when working with a team or freelancing is to get everyone to agree on a good day and time to meet.
The list of suggestions sent to you by each person can become overwhelming so one of the best tools that will suggest a great day and time that will suit everyone is Doodle.
It does this by giving everyone the ability to vote and looking to see when are the best options for a meeting and suggest 2-3 dates based on people’s availability.
You will have this shortlist then choose one of the suggested dates.
Other great tools for one-to-one freelancing appointments is GetOmnify.com and Acuity Scheduling.
With these two tools, people can choose times and dates from your available slots.
Have you ever tried to send a quick message that should only take 2 minutes but it actually took 7-10 minutes instead because you spent a lot of time fixing autocorrect?
I feel your pain, some really common words, slangs or brand names are not included in the autocorrect dictionary so it takes more time to send a message.
Enter Swiftkey, a cool keyboard that you can have working in conjunction with your normal mobile phone keyboard.
It does offer predictive text but it offers better suggestions than your standard auto-correct feature.

Have you ever attended events, seminars and conferences and they all give you some collateral? Ever wished they could have delivered it to you using an app?
If you are like me not only do you get tons of printed collateral every year but you probably also take notes during webinars.
This next app is going to blow your mind because TurboScan allows you to take that item and scan it into your phone as a PDF.
Woohoo! Save the trees and reduce the clutter around your house or home office. Rather than refusing to take any more handouts just scan the item and hand it back.
Can you think of the number of efficiencies around this one app? You can even do this to bills, receipts and invoices which is why TurboScan is on my list of productivity apps.
Everyone talks about Canva but very few people talk about the app. As I am writing this blog post now I am quite aware that I need to spend time creating the images.
I usually use Canva on my laptop to create the images because I believe it is faster but what if I can save time and do it from the app.
Even if you use stock photos you can have these save in Google drive or iCloud or Dropbox and access the images on the go.
Here is where I find it really handy. If I have created an image and I need to make a small tweak but I am out on about.
I just open the app, make the small change and save it. For me, this is a time saving as I don’t need to boot up my laptop and get that simple task done.
It is also great if you get an amazing idea for an image and you want to start working on it straight away.
You can start in the app and continue working once you get access to your laptop or desktop.
It gives you the ability to share the finished graphic with other people via messaging apps or any other social apps.
If you are constantly working on projects at your desk as well as out and about then you will be happy to hear that Trello has a mobile app.

You are on a train and signed up a new client? No problem, go ahead and create a new board and set up tasks for your team to start working on the project.
Even if you need to label cards, change a due date, add members or add a note this can all be done from your mobile device. You are probably wondering if you need the desktop version but I believe it can be useful in some areas.
Another clever little app is SmarterQueue. After you have created all this lovely content part of your content marketing plan is to promote your blog or business.
If you ever heard of Buffer, Hootsuite, MeetEdgar and Later then SmartQueue will be familiar to you.
It is very similar except that it uses an internal algorithm and artificial intelligence to auto repost your content.
In the same way, you are encouraged to create evergreen content for your blog so that you can repurpose that content to create other media.
SmarterQueue takes your old social media posts and reposts them to get more visibility and more reach.
This means that you can have your Social Media queue running for a full 365 days on autopilot. All you need to do is create the content.
Once the content is there you can set it and forget it. This way you are generating brand awareness and leads on auto-pilot.

You are probably aware of this already but one of the best ways to drive traffic to your blog or website is using Pinterest.
Unlike many other platforms, Pinterest builds traffic to your blog with consistent effort. It does this very effectively because unlike Google it is a visual search engine.
It appeals to the person who is looking to buy a gift or other item because they can search right on the platform and get many visual suggestions.
The most striking feature of Pinterest is that the half-life of a pin is 6 months. If you don’t know what that means let me illustrate.
When you post something on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter the lifetime of that post in the news feed last only seconds or minutes and then it is gone.
Unless your post, image or video goes viral then that’s the end of that effort. Of course, if you have thousands of followers to help amplify the impact then the life of that post is extended.
On Pinterest, it takes time for that pin to gain traction. You may not see all the results of that pin straight away as it can go viral straight away or take months to propagate across the platform.
So 3-6 months after pinning your pin is still driving leads and awareness. The great thing about the mobile app is that you can quickly do your manual pinning quota in a few minutes.
Do you see why I have included this on my list of productivity apps?
One of the ways to assist with the propagation of your pins is by using a 3rd party approved tool called TailwindApp.
The desktop application comes with so many features like analytics of both your boards and group boards.
You can set up board lists and use the Pin inspector to find your most popular pins. When you find those popular pins you can re-pin them.
There is also Tailwind Tribes which is great for collaborating with like-minded people in a similar vertical like your self.
There are tribes for Lifestyle, Food, Travel and even Small Business Bloggers. The main benefit is that you re-pin each others content.
While many of these features are not available on the mobile app, there is one thing that you will not easily find using the desktop version.
That one thing I find that significantly multiplies my efforts is the discover feature. Stay with me while I explain.
The recent updates in Pinterest do not give you the visibility on the popularity of a pin. Simply because they want you to pin for quality rather quantity.
The problem with this way of thinking is that in order to assess if a pin in the best quality you will need to check the pin image, description, hashtags, board, the site it is linked to, etc. ‘ain’t nobody got time for that’!
The discover feature allows you to see which pins are the most popular by keyword so that you can queue these up for repining to your boards.
This reason alone is major and is a must-have on my list of productivity apps.
One clever solution in my productivity apps arsenal is one that helps build your social media following directly.
The top 5 platforms for social media marketing include LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and Twitter.
Twitter is not as exciting as the other 4 as it is all about real-time events that are happening at a location. It’s one of the least understood of the 5 as well.
The team at CrowdFire developed a mobile app to help you to consistently get results from Twitter and Instagram.
The app offers you a dashboard to see many helpful things like your competitor’s followers, anyone who recently unfollowed you.
You have the ability to connect your Facebook account as well as Wordpress.org blog so that you can share your most recent posts on several Social Media platforms.
One great feature is the ability to curate content that your followers would be interested in consuming which you will see in your queue once you set up your preferences.

In case you are wondering this is very useful and classed as one of the best productivity apps of all time. This is because it gives you performance, analytics and visibility at a much deeper level.
You get a smart feed of images as well as posts that you can repost in Twitter by just a click of a button.
